INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES

ENEA promotes, in the sectors in which it operates, collaboration with the organisations and institutions of other countries in the scientific and technological spheres, defining technical standards, taking part in major research programmes and international organisations and providing specific expertise on request. The Agency’s main initiatives are undertaken in the following fields:

• EUROPEAN UNION ACTIVITIES: EURATOM; Projects financed by EU Programmes; European Technological Platforms; Committees and Groups; Associations and networks; ENEA Liaison Office in Brussels.
• BILATERAL COOPERATION
• MULTILATERAL COOPERATION: IEA; IAEA; OECD; NEA
• INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVES: EUREKA; ITER; ITPA; CSLF; GIF; IPHE; VAMAS

ENEA operates intensely in the sphere of international relations, working within a dense network of bilateral and multilateral relations, in particular within the European Union. In particular, the Agency:

• is involved in projects financed chiefly by European Union Programmes, as well as European technological Platforms and international networks, associations and initiatives;
• supports the participation of its delegates/experts in international committees and groups on STR-related topics;
• maintains relations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italian scientific officers overseas, scientific attachés of foreign embassies in Italy, Italy’s permanent Office of Representation with the EU and, through its Liaison Office in Brussels, promotes the Agency’s visibility, providing tools to help support the development of European Projects and research activities;
• hosts, in its research Centres, official delegations of European and non-European countries, also with a view to planning the definition of specific Agreements or Memoranda of Understanding among parties;
• takes part in the planning and organisation of international events of particular relevance for its STR activities;
• finances and promotes hospitality at its laboratories for foreign grant holders operating in programme sectors of interest to the Agency.
