Innovations and Benefits

Integrated applications of the latest multi-sensor aerospace observation techniques (LIDAR, multi / hyperspectral, SAR) with multi-platform (satellite, air, drones) integration and on-site calibration supported by GIS (Geographical Information System) advanced tools, also exploiting open-source and big data approaches.

Use

Environment and ecosystems monitoring and mapping to support their eco-sustainable management aimed to mitigating and adapting to the impacts of anthropic activities, land degradation and climate change.
Vulnerability and impacts related to factors of natural origin (earthquakes, landslides, floods, heat waves) or anthropogenic (pollution, fires) in urban environments and on infrastructures.

Applications and ongoing Activities

  1. Remote sensing integrated by seismic networks and non-destructive measures for the monitoring of cultural assets and infrastructures (Projects: TeRN II, MIUR-FAR, Monitoring of the Cathedral of Orvieto, Min. Cultural Heritage) subjected to seismic and geological stresses.
  2. Mapping and monitoring of coastal and shallow water ecosystems, in particular Posidonia oceanica. (Projects: ENERGY from the sea of the MISE, DT-AmaR, POR Sicily).Monitoraggio multiscala  dello stress e stato di salute di vegetazione semi-naturale e colture tramite telerilevamento multipiattaforma (satellite, ultraleggero, drone) e rilievi in sito basati su proximal sensing ad analisi di laboratorio. (Collaborazioni:  Univ. Sassari,  Arsial Lazio).
  3. Evaluation of the response of the urban fabric and environment to anthropic or natural impact factors (solar radiation, heat waves, intense rainfall, fires, air pollution, etc.), for photovoltaics and to support policies / strategies for mitigation / prevention and adaptation. (Projects: RoMA-Resilience of Metropolitan Area - MIUR, Smart Cities).

 

 

Examples of application of the LIDAR-Aerial photogrammetric and satellite multispectral surveys for the thermo-fluid dynamic characterization of the urban fabric of Avellino in detail and for the estimation of the photovoltaic potential of the roofs.
