Hi-tech sensors to monitor the effects of smog and traffic on the Aurelian Walls, laser surveys for the restoration of Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia. These are just few of the activities foreseen by the project ADAMO for the conservation and restoration of the cultural heritage of the Rome area. The project, coordinated by ENEA and funded by the Regione Lazio, is part of the new Technological District for Cultural Assets and Activities (DTC).

ENEA has patented innovative weak electromagnetic signal amplifiers that allow extremely accurate measurements, which cannot be obtained with other methods, for applications in the medical field (ultrasound equipment and body scanners), telecommunications (radar and sonar), cultural heritage (laser diagnostic systems) up to nuclear physics experiments.

A new step forward in the creation of the scientific-technological hub on nuclear fusion among the most advanced in the world. With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding committing the Lazio region encompassing Rome to grant a contribution of 25 million euro, in fact, the foundations were laid for the operational start-up at the ENEA Research Center in Frascati of the DTT experiment (Divertor Tokamak Test ) foreseeing a total of 500 million euro of public and private investments, the involvement of over 1500 highly specialized workers and significant repercussions at the local and national level.

The assembly of the toroidal magnetic system of the JT-60SA fusion experimental reactor, the 'heart' of the plant, was completed in Japan thanks to the supply of 20 high-tech coils, of which 10 were manufactured in Italy. The announcement was made today during an event at the ENEA Headquarters in Rome, in which the Italian technological contribution to this new generation of nuclear fusion machines, expecting the first plasma in 2020, was illustrated in detail.

"ScienzaInsieme", the first Italian scientific dissemination initiative, has officially been launched. The main Italian research institutions - ASI, CINECA, CNR, ENEA, INAF, INFN, INGV, ISPRA, Sapienza University fo Rome and Tuscia University of Viterbo will work together with the aim of promoting a kind of communication that combines scientific rigor and knowledge sharing. At the inauguration, the Presidents and Directors of the Research Institutions, the representatives of the Lazio Region, the Director of the Research Department of the MAXXI - National Museum of 21st-century Arts in Rome.

More than doubled this year the ENEA's at the second edition of the Open Research Day on Friday 28th September. 5 research centers will open doors from 2.00 pm to 11.30 pm, (Portici, Trisaia, Brindisi, Casaccia, and Frascati) in the event that allows everyone to meet researchers in their laboratories. Through events, exhibitions, tours, live experiments and games, it will be possible to enter the world of science and technological innovation, led by scientists, researchers and technicians in a real "journey" among the Italian excellences.

Great success for the 30th Symposium on Fusion Technology (SOFT 2018), one of the most important international conferences in the field of fusion energy research, organized by ENEA in Italy. The event brought together over 1,000 scientists, engineers and exhibitors from all over the world and focused on the latest developments on fusion experiments and activities. The protagonist of SOFT 2018 was also the industry, with over 30 stands, 60 exhibitors and a hundred participants in the Industry Day, the information day dedicated to the opportunities provided to companies by major international projects, such as ITER and the great fusion research hub DTT (Divertor Tokamak Test)
