Energy: The Call for papers for the World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion has been announced

11 February is the deadline for the call for papers for the World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion - WCPEC, the most prominent international photovoltaic conference to be held in Milan from 26 to 30 September 2022 and chaired by ENEA researcher Alessandra Scognamiglio.

The event, organized by the global technical committee led by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, focused on different themes, among which the most important were: new challenges posed by an ever-increasing demand for photovoltaic energy and the commitment to its sustainability and reliability, also in the long term; technological innovation, use of the soil resource, attention to design and its impact on the environment to shape a new cultural landscape. Some exceedingly important issues will also concern the reduction of photovoltaic costs, which lead to a sustainable value chain; the need to increase manufacture capacity and its consequences on the production of materials such as glass, plastic, etc.); the differentiation of materials and the improvement of performance; the study of cost reduction for electrical contacts; the improvement of cells efficiency.

“Along with these scientific and technological issues, there is the need for a person-centred approach and on the attitude people have towards photovoltaics ", pointed out Alessandra Scognamiglio. "To that effect, I believe Italy can become an actual laboratory to assess the awareness people have of these technologies and their impact on the landscape, so that photovoltaic technology, which is at the heart of the ecological transition, can be big but beautiful ".

The Photovoltaics Forms Landscapes 2022 event, organized by ENEA in collaboration with ETA Florence Renewable Energies and Joint Research Center of the European Commission, will shed light on this topic, with a special focus on agrivoltaics, "with respect to which Italy is a laboratory of excellence, also considering the resources allocated by the PNRR” Scognamiglio said.

The World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion - WCPEC, brings together the three main events of the photovoltaic sector - the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference (EUPVSEC), the Photovoltaic Specialist Conference (IEEE PVSC) and the International PV Science and Engineering Conference (PVSEC) .
