AMIGA «Assessing and Monitoring the Impacts of Genetically modified plants on Agro-ecosystems» is a European project funded by the European Commission under the Framework Programme 7 (FP7), aiming at producing scientific data related to the possible environmental and economic impacts of cultivation of genetically modified plants (GMPs), relevant to European environments. ENEA is the coordinator of 22 international scientific institutions of great prestige.

Fifty-four months of laboratory, field experiments and mathematical modelling, twenty-two research groups involved in fifteen countries (and two continents). This represents most likely the largest ever concerted effort to furnish to stakeholders, academia and the society at large, scientifically sound results on the sustainability and practical indications on environmental risk assessment for genetically modified plants, the largest adopted products of green biotechnology.

Some key issues will be discussed triggered by opening statements by AMIGA Consortium members.
