European project COST Action TD1105 EuNetAir "New sensing technologies for air quality control and environmental sustainability"

The First Interdisciplinary Scientific Workshop, organized by ENEA, of the European project COST Action TD1105 EuNetAir, coordinated by ENEA, will deal with new sensing technologies for air quality control and environmental monitoring in order to support eco-sustainability. The scientific and technological project EuNetAir is focussed on an innovative paradigm based on the new sensing technologies at low-cost for air-quality control and proposes a competitive and coordinated Pan-European network able to explore new methods, models, materials, sensors, devices, systems, algorithms and standards for detecting air-pollutants by gas adsorption into nanostructured materials and advanced nanostructures by means of innovative and multidisciplinary research in the context of the European Research Area.

The final objective of the concerted action EuNetAir is to develop new sensing technologies at low-cost and low-power consumption for practical applications in the green-economy, and to support in the medium-long term the competitiveness of SMEs and the economies of the EU Countries.

First Interdisciplinary Scientific Workshop of the COST Action TD1105 EuNetAir (2012-2016) funded in the framework of COST - Cooperation in Science and Technology - has planned the participation of more than 80 international experts coming from 25 European Countries including well-established scientists from extra-EU with expertise in the field of nanotechnologies, nanomaterials, chemical sensors, portable systems, wireless technologies, environmental measurements, air-pollution modelling, protocols, standards. The network EuNetAir will form a critical mass of researchers and international experts in a multidisciplinary approach to discuss in an Open Workshop on 4-6 December 2012 at ENEA Headquarters, Rome.

There will be discussions on new sensing technologies for environmental monitoring with particular emphasis on nanomaterials, sensors, devices, systems, algorithms, distributed intelligence, innovative products, market of new environmental sensors.
