The workshop will offer attendants the great opportunity to be informed about the latest updates on low-dose research issues, and to participate in the MELODI Low Dose Research Platform, a major step in the long term goals that the European Low-Dose Risk research intends to achieve. The main goal of MELODI (http://www.melodi-online.eu/) is to develop and maintain a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) in the field of low-dose radiation research, and to actively promote its implementation.
In line with one of the main SRA goals, a major aim of the workshop will be to set all subjects in an interdisciplinary context. The environment of the workshop will provide to the attendants the possibility to actively participate in the discussion about the next steps for implementing the SRA.
The Workshop will comprise 4 plenary sessions, as well as poster sessions for informal discussions among participants. Epidemiology of ionizing radiation, experimental models, biological mechanisms of radiation action, and physical and biological targets of low dose radiation will be the topics of the sessions. The workshop will also feature a lecture on what radioprotection can request to radiobiology, as well as two plenary reporting sessions, one on the progress made in the development of the SRA, and another one devoted to the EU Network of Excellence DoReMi (Low Dose Research towards Multidisciplinary Integration).
Young researchers are encouraged to submit posters.
