SAHYOG Conference and Brokerage Event on Bio-Economy

The final SAHYOG Conference and Brokerage Event on Bio-economy is organized in New Delhi, India, on 3-4 February 2014. The conference is organised by SAHYOG in cooperation with TERI and the European Commission. Bio-economy has been identified as a thematic area of priority interest for scientific collaboration between Europe and India. The EU-India Brokerage Event on Bio-economy and SAHYOG stakeholder Conference aims at strengthening EU-India STI collaboration in the field of biobased economy, by promoting existing collaborations; programs and policies, facilitating linkages between existing projects and triggering new exciting collaborations. This conference will also be the chance to learn about funding opportunities in the upcoming context of Horizon 2020 and reflect on the future of collaboration between both regions.

The main objective of the SAHYOG project is to establish a partnering initiative to coordinate research activities carried out in Europe and India on biomass production and biowaste conversion through biotechnological approaches. The project activities are based on comprehensive inventories integrating research activities from Europe and India in order to identify common areas of interest as well as knowledge gaps and cooperation opportunities. Finally, a Strategic Research Agenda and a R&D road map is developed in order to facilitate concerted planning of future joint EU-India research initiatives Thereby, pathways will be identified to promote new technologies that will drive Europe and India to an increased exploitation of biotechnology for biomass production and biowaste conversion.

For this first edition of Bio-economy, the European Commission; Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and SAHYOG have decided to combine their forces to deliver an ambitious agenda where more than 150 attendees will have the chance to participate. The interactive event is planned to deliberate the various aspects of bio-based economy in EU, Member States and India through the sessions planned in the following areas:

  • Transition towards Bio based economy
  • Industry Academia interaction on Bio-Economy
  • Strategic Research Agenda and Panel Discussion on Bio-based Economy
  • Support initiatives, Funding and Financing
  • Stakeholder Dialogues and policy perspectives
  • Networking Café and cocktail reception
